Shafali said playing for Australia feels like playing with a men’s team

Shafali Verma relishes hitting sixes but nothing beats the joy of playing crisp shots against Australians as playing against them makes the opener feel like she is facing a men’s team. Shafali has come a long way since making her India debut at the age of 15 and has formed one of the most attacking opening pairs in women’s cricket along with Smriti Mandhana. After failing in the first two matches, Shafali scored 52 off 41 balls in the last match against Australia which included six fours and three sixes.

Shefali said on the eve of the fourth T20 match against Australia, “I like playing against Australia. Looks like playing against boys only. “When I hit fours (against Australia) it boosts my confidence and I feel I have improved as a player because Australia is the best team in women’s cricket,” she said. When I hit fours against England or any other team, I don’t get that much joy. Because his game is like this only. If they come to know even a small mistake of yours, then they try to take advantage of it. So we have to play our best game against them.
