TTFI announces five domestic tournaments for 2022-23 season
The newly-elected Executive Committee of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on Friday announced the schedule of national level domestic tournaments, starting with the Senior National Championship to be held in Jammu in March. The new office bearers of TTFI have taken over after the elections this month. TTFI was suspended in February last year due to administrative matters. Because of this, there has been a delay in the start of the new session.
Normally five national ranking events are held in a season but due to time constraints only two will be held. Apart from this, top level sub-junior, junior and senior national competitions have also been included in the programme. The decision was taken by the Executive Committee under the leadership of President Meghna Ahlawat following meetings held earlier this week. The schedule was announced by TTFI general secretary and eight-time national champion Kamlesh Mehta.
As per the schedule, the Junior and Youth National Championships will be held in Chennai from February 8 to 16, followed by the Cadet and Sub-Junior National Championships in Alappuzha (Kerala) from February 19 to 27. Jammu will host the Senior National Championship from March 20 to 27. Mehta said, “Despite the paucity of time, the executive committee decided to include two national ranking tournaments to help those players who would not be able to participate in any major tournament.
