Udayveer’s double gold strengthens India’s second place in World Championship

India consolidated their second position in the table with three gold and two bronze medals at the ISSF World Championships here on Saturday. Udayveer Sidhu won two gold medals. He won the junior men’s 25m and standard pistol titles. On the other hand, Isha Singh won the junior women’s 25m pistol title, taking India to four gold and three bronze medals. The country is second behind China in the medal tally.

China has a total of 16 medals out of eight gold. India also secured a quota in the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday thanks to Rudraksh Balasaheb Patil. Udayveer shot 580 in the precision and rapid fire rounds of the junior men’s pistol event to finish on top of 23 shooters. Italy’s Matteo Mastrovalerio finished second and China’s Liu Yangpan third. In the Standard Pistol, Udayveer scored 568 points in three stages, leaving behind Yangpan who won the silver medal.

India’s Sameer won the bronze medal with a score of 567. Isha took the first position with 29 hits, while Fang Sijuan of China came second with 25 hits. Tejaswini won India’s second bronze medal in the junior women’s 25m standard pistol event with a score of 557.
