Uruguay squad announced for Football World Cup, Suarez and Cavani included

Uruguay coach Diego Alonso announced the squad for the Football World Cup in Qatar on Thursday, which includes strikers Louis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and other experienced players. Both Suarez and Cavani are 35 years old and this will likely be their fourth and final World Cup. The squad includes three other experienced members including goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and defenders Diego Godin and Martín Cáceres.

Uruguay is in Group H along with Portugal, South Korea and Ghana. The team’s first match in Qatar will be against South Korea on 24 November.The coach has also included Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, although he is still recovering from thigh surgery.

Squad: Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera, Sergio Rochette, Sebastian Sosa Defenders: Diego Godin, José Maria Gimenez, Sebastian Coates, Martín Cáceres, Ronald Araujo, Mathias Oliveira, Guillermo Varela, Jose Luis Rodriguez Midfielders: Mathias Vesconte, Rodrigo Vescanto, Rodriguez, Rodriguez Lucas Torreira, Manuel Ugarte, Facundo Pallistri, Nikos de la Cruz, Giorgione di Arrascaeta, Augustin Kanobio and Facundo Torres Forwards: Darwin Nez, Louis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Maximiliano Gómez.
