Along with this, he had talked about playing the Asia Cup on neutral venue. Now there is a complete ruckus on this. There is constant threat from Pakistan side. Amidst the whole ruckus, now the statement of the newly elected President of BCCI, Roger Binny has also come. He has clearly said about Team India’s tour of Pakistan that it is not in our hands. We can’t say where our team needs to go.

Roger Binny said that if we leave the country or go to another country or come from somewhere, then we have to get approval from the government. We cannot make this decision on our own. We have to trust the government. Earlier today, the statement of Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had also come on the same issue. Anurag Thakur had clearly said that the safety of the players is supreme. He had also said that the Home Ministry will decide on Team India’s tour of Pakistan. Along with this, he clearly said about the bilateral institutions with Pakistan that our stand is clear from day one that cricket cannot be played under the shadow of terrorism.

Let us tell you that Team India has not toured Pakistan after 2008. At the same time, the Pakistan team last came to India in 2012. Responding to Jay Shah’s similar statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board had said that such statements could divide the Asian and international cricket communities and could also affect Pakistan’s visit to India for the 2023 World Cup. According to the statement, “The PCB has not received any official communication or clarification from the ACC on the statement of the ACC President so far. The PCB has now urged the Asian Cricket Council to convene an emergency meeting of its Board as soon as practicable to discuss the important and sensitive issue.
