Nainital, Khatima, the hottest seat of Uttarakhand, is in most discussions these days. Assembly elections are due in Uttarakhand. Here a slogan is ‘Ladega Tharu, Toh Chaligi Jhadi’. It is getting very popular. In this hill-dominated seat, Tharu voters are in a key role and they can play a decisive role. uttarakhand assembly elections
The prestige of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Bharatiya Janata Party is at stake in this assembly seat adjacent to the Nepal border. He is MLA from here for two consecutive terms. In the year 2012, he became MLA for the first time from this seat. He won this seat for the second time defeating the Congress candidate. In the year 2017, he won by 2709 votes. Then he got 29539 votes and Congress’s Bhuvan Chandra Kapri got 26830 votes. BSP’s Ramesh Singh Rana came third.
This time there is a big challenge for Dhami from here. He has made up his mind to contest elections from Khatima itself. Last time he had given clear indications of contesting from Khatima itself. He had said that his soul and heart resides in Khatima. It is clear that he can contest from Khatima for the third time. As Chief Minister and as MLA for the third time, this time some anti-incumbency wave will also be involved against him.

However, after becoming the Chief Minister about six months ago, he has left no stone unturned to change Khatima’s picture. Experts believe that in such a short span of time, they have made every effort to make all-round development of Khatima. Be it the construction of by-pass in Khatima or the construction of national highways, along with Eklavya tribal school, canteen for soldiers, he has tried to change the picture of the city.
Now the question is whether Chief Minister Dhami will be able to break the myths prevalent in the politics of Uttarakhand. In the 2012 assembly elections, the BJP had given the slogan ‘Khanduri Hai Zaroori’, but while in power, Khanduri not only lost the election from Kotdwar assembly but the BJP was also out of power.
