Uttarakhand’s first sports university to be built in Haldwani: Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Thursday that the state’s first sports university would be established in Haldwani city of Kumaon. In a program organized here on the occasion of completion of one year of his government’s tenure, Dhami said that sports university was being demanded by sportspersons and various sports associations for a long time. He said that international level sports university will be established soon by upgrading Haldwani international stadium.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also held a meeting with the officials regarding the proposed Sports University in the Secretariat, in which he directed that along with the development of infrastructure facilities for the Sports University, suggestions of experts on the subject for sports and necessary educational activities should be taken. Be taken Dhami said that there is no dearth of sports talents in Uttarakhand. Continuous efforts are being made to provide better sports facilities to the youth in the state.

In this regard, he said that in the year 2024, National Games will be organized in Uttarakhand. He said that in the new sports policy, efforts have been made to provide all possible facilities to the players. He said that with the formation of new sports university, the youth of the state would get better opportunities to show their talent in the field of sports. Senior officials including Sports Minister Rekha Arya and Chief Secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu were present in the meeting.
