Netherlands player’s family had left the country during the Sikh riots, now landed against India

The Netherlands team also includes Indian-origin Vikramjit Singh, who played his match against India. Vikramjit himself has described this match as the biggest match of international career. According to the information, 19-year-old Vikramjit Singh, who is the Netherlands’s salute, also took part in this match.The special thing is that Vikramjit belongs to Punjab of India. However, during the Sikh riots, Vikramjit’s grandfather Khushi Cheema had to leave Punjab and the Netherlands overnight along with the family.
 
On playing with the Netherlands team, Vikramjit Singh’s father Harpreet told the media that his father had decided to leave Punjab when he was just five years old. He told that it is never possible to forget that night and morning. Seeing the rising rebellion, my father had decided to leave home, village and even the country.
He told that I had reached the Netherlands with my family at the age of just five. There were many difficulties in the initial days. The Netherlands differed from culture to language. It was very difficult to adjust to the new environment with the new country. This was the period when racism was also at its peak in the Netherlands. While living here, a lot of things had to be faced regarding skin color, beard, turban, but with time there was a positive change in the situation.
 
Vikramjit was born in Punjab
Vikramjit was born in his native village Cheema Khurd in Punjab. He was brought up in this village till the age of seven. After that he went to the Netherlands. Here at the age of 11, he made his debut in the Netherlands Under-12 tournament. Here his talent was recognized by the Dutch captain Peter Boren. After this his training started and at the age of 15 he made a place in the A team of Netherlands. After this, he also became a part of the T20 World Cup team of Netherlands. However, to be a part of the team, Peter Boren had given strict training to Vikramjeet. It has also included practicing in the nets for hours.
 
Have also taken training from India
Vikramjit got sponsorship from Sports Goods Manufacturers Company. This company is the one that has made bats for Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh. After this, Vikramjeet took six months of training at Gurusagar Cricket Academy in Chandigarh. He has trained with Taruvar Kohli.
