We would like to play on any pitch in Chepauk: Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad on Saturday said his team has no problem playing on any pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium due to the advantage of home conditions. Chennai beat IPL Mumbai Indians by six wickets played at Chepauk. The team achieved the target in 17.4 overs after restricting Mumbai’s innings to 139 for 8. Asked whether his team would like to continue playing on such a pitch, Gaikwad said, “It suits our strengths, but the pitch is beyond our control because of rain and weather not being favourable, obviously.” But making the pitch we want is a tough job for the curator.

He told reporters after the match, “We have lost the last two matches here, both the matches were close. We were just a shot or two away from victory. We would love to play on any pitch here because of the home advantage. Wadhera, who scored his maiden half-century, said, “It was difficult to hit the fast bowlers when we were batting because the ball was not coming on the bat properly. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande were bowling me with the new ball, they bowled two slower deliveries which didn’t come off well. So I knew I would have to take some time to groom the innings. He said, “We scored 15-20 runs less. Had 15-20 more runs been scored, the result of the match might have been different.
