Women cricketers showing enthusiasm for WPL 2023, 1000 registrations for 90 players

Preparations for the auction for the first season of the Women’s Premier League have started by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. There is a lot of enthusiasm among women players for this first women’s league. The result of this enthusiasm is that a total of 1000 players have registered for the place of 90 players in the tournament.

According to the information, on January 13, the women players will be auctioned in Mumbai. Before this, the franchisees will be seen shortening the list. It is believed that the auction for the first season is going to be a huge hit. Apart from Indian players, foreign players are also very excited for this auction.

A total of five franchisees have to participate in this auction. Through this auction, each franchisee will have to buy a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players for their team. In this way players can be bought in a total of 90 slots. 35 out of 90 players will be foreigners. That is, each team can have a maximum of seven foreign players. Each team must also have one player from an associate country. This step will prove to be very useful for the development of women’s cricket.

It is believed that the base price for the auction has been fixed. In this auction, capped players will be kept in the base price category of Rs 30, 40 and 50 lakhs. In this there will be players who have played international cricket. Whereas for uncapped players, the range of 10 and 20 lakh base price will be kept. Rs 12 crore will be given to each team to buy players.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has sold all five teams. By selling these teams, the board has earned Rs 4669.99 crore. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah has informed about this. She said in a series of tweets that the official name of the Women’s IPL will now be the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

These teams will be included in the first season
The first and inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League will feature teams from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Delhi. All these teams have been auctioned. According to the information, the highest bid has been received for the team of Ahmedabad for the Women’s Premier League, which is the team of Adani Group. On the other hand, the Mumbai team has been bought by IndiaWin Sports, whose bid is the second highest.

According to the information, BCCI can start the first season in the month of March. However, till now the schedule has not been released regarding this. There is a possibility that the Women’s Premier League may be organized between March 4-26, with a total of 22 matches. These matches can be organized at Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
