World Archery: Priyansh becomes world under-21 champion in compound archery

Limerick. Indian archer Priyansh won a gold medal in the ongoing World Archery Youth Championship, taking the country’s medal tally to nine. Priyansh became the U-21 world champion on Saturday after defeating Slovenia’s Aljaj Branc 147-141 in a one-sided men’s U-21 individual final. Earlier, budding archer Aditi Swami became the Under-18 women’s world champion by defeating Leanne Drake of America.

Aditi, who had set the Under-18 Compound women’s qualifying record at the World Cup last month, continued her good run to beat Leanne 142-136 in the final of the ongoing Youth World Championships here. Making her senior debut at the World Cup, Aditi won the team bronze medal in Colombia last month. Aditi had also won an individual silver medal at the third stage of the Asia Cup in Sharjah last year. India has so far won nine medals including five gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
