WTC Final: India and Australia’s records are not good in Oval, know who can have the upper hand

The final match of the World Test Championship 2023 will be played between India and Australia. India has created history by reaching the final of the World Test Championship for the second time in a row. Recently, India registered a 2-1 win against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, India’s place in the final of the World Test Championship came only after New Zealand’s victory against Sri Lanka. On the last day of the fourth Test match, it was decided that India and Australia would face each other in the final of the World Test Championship. The match will be played at the Oval ground in London from June 7 to 11. However, this ground has not been lucky for both the teams.

If you look at India’s record at The Oval, it is not much better. India has played 14 Test matches here so far, out of which only two have won. India has lost here in 5 while seven matches have been drawn. The one thing that goes in India’s favor is that when India played its last match on this ground, it won. Then India defeated the host England. Rohit Sharma played an inning of 127 runs in this match. This ground has not been good enough for Australia either. Out of 38 matches, Australia has won only seven while it has lost in 17.

One thing that goes in Australia’s favor is that the team tends to perform better in ICC events. Same, India has been proving to be a flop somewhere in ICC events. Everyone will remember the 2003 World Cup. When there was a final match between Team India and Australia. India got a crushing defeat in that match by 125 runs. The fans would be hoping that the Indian team avenges that match by defeating Australia in the final of the Test Championship at The Oval. India has not won any ICC trophy for 10 years. In 2013, Team India won the Champions Trophy under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. A total of 106 Test matches have been played between India and Australia so far, in which India has won 32. Australia has won 44. At the same time, 29 matches have been drawn while AK has not got any result.
