Tennis Tournament: Andreescu defeated Muguruza in Adelaide International
Adelaide. Canada’s Bianca Andreescu beat Spain’s Garbine Muguruza 0-6, 7-6(3), 6-1 in a hard-fought match in the first round of the Adelaide International tennis tournament here on Sunday. At the US Open, the 2019 champion Andreescu was trailing 0-6, 2-5 at one point but made a stunning comeback to win the match that lasted two hours and 12 minutes. Andreescu extended her record against Muguruza to 3–0 with the win. Andreescu later said, “I changed my strategy in the second set. I told myself that whatever happens, you have to stick to your strategy.

In this tournament, all eyes will be on world number one Novak Djokovic in men’s singles, who will take on Constant Lestein of France in the first round match on Monday. Djokovic was deported from Australia last year for not getting vaccinated for Kovid-19. Djokovic won the Adelaide International in 2007 at the age of 19, his third ATP Tour title.
