Senior National Hockey Championship from February 15, men’s event to be held in April
Hockey India’s domestic season will begin with the Senior Women’s National Championship from February 15 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Odisha had won the title last year by defeating Karnataka 2-0 in the final. The third season of the Hockey India Senior Men’s Inter-Divisional National Championship will begin in Bengaluru from February 26. Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) is its defending champion.
Players like Jugraj Singh and Sukhjit Singh were called to the senior national camp in 2022 only after the first season of this championship, exclusively organized for Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The Indian men’s team will face Germany and Australia in home matches of the FIH (International Hockey Federation) Pro League at Rourkela in March this year.
The men’s domestic season will begin in April with the 13th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “I wish all the best to all the players preparing for the prestigious National Championship. These tournaments will prove to be milestones for the budding career of many new talented hockey players in the country.
