Dunkley and Deol give huge score to Gujarat Giants

Sophia Dunkley (65) and Harleen Deol (67) struck half-centuries as Gujarat Giants posted 201 for seven in their Women’s Premier League match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday. RCB bowlers proved to be very expensive in the third match in a row at the Brabourne Stadium and the opposition team scored a score of 200 for the second time. Dunkley scored 65 runs in just 28 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. It was the fastest fifty in the Women’s Premier League and her strike rate was 232.

Deol, on the other hand, scored 67 off 45 balls which included nine fours and a six. Deol also got two lives in his innings. Preeti Bose dropped her hard catch when she was on 61. After this, Richa Ghosh also missed an easy stumping opportunity. S Meghna could not score a single run in the first over. Dunkley then hit Ellyse Perry for a four in the second over and Megan Schutt for consecutive fours in the third over. Meghna then hit Parry for a four in the third over but was caught by Richa behind the wicket on the last ball.

Dunkley welcomes Renuka Singh with a six. He took out RCB spinner Bose for 23 runs in the fifth over by hitting four fours and a six. With this, he completed his Pachasa in 18 balls which included nine fours and two sixes. He completed the half-century partnership with Deol in just 26 balls by hitting Shreyanka Patil for a six and a four. It was Patil, however, who ended her innings by getting her caught by Heather Knight at long-off. After this, Deol and Ashley Gardner (19) completed the half-century partnership. Deol hit Parry for four while Shutt was hit for a six and a four in the 12th over. Knight dismissed Gardner. Gardner and Deol added 53 runs in 36 balls.
