Hazlewood out of remaining two Tests

Australia, who had lost both the first Tests to India, suffered another blow on Monday when fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the remaining two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a foot injury. Australia lost the first two Tests – in Nagpur and Delhi – within three days. The last two matches will be played in Indore (March 1 to 5) and Ahmedabad (March 9 to 13). Australia head coach Andrew McDonald confirmed that Hazlewood, who was ruled out of the Nagpur and Delhi Tests, would continue to undergo treatment in Sydney.

Hazlewood was injured during the Test match played against South Africa in Sydney. McDonald said, “Josh Hazlewood is out of the team.” He will return home. Macdonald, however, is unsure of David Warner’s status. The opener suffered an elbow injury during the second Test due to which he was ruled out of the match.

He said, “Warner is still not fit. We had a meeting regarding this. We are in no hurry to make any decision about Davey (Warner) right now. I will leave it to the medical team to assess the status of his injury. In Australia’s second innings in Delhi, Travis Head came in place of Warner to open the innings and MacDonald said that if Warner fails to recover from injury in time, Head will replace Warner. Will take his place.

He said, “If Dave is not available then keeping him (Head) would be the right decision. We had discussed before coming here that if one of our openers is not available, Trave will be the one to replace him. The coach, however, said that Cameron Green will be fit for the Indore match.
