Rohit said on Ishaan Kishan’s performance, he plays aggressive cricket and has to be given opportunities.

Port of Spain. India skipper Rohit Sharma has high hopes from young wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan and hinted that he will be given more opportunities in Test cricket to hone his skills. Ishan made his debut in the First Test against West Indies at Roseau which India won by an innings and 141 runs. Rohit said he was impressed with Ishaan’s wicketkeeping against spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The Indian team will play the second Test from Thursday. Asked about Ishaan’s performance in the first Test, Rohit said, “Ishaan is very talented. We have seen this in his short career. He has recently scored 200 runs in ODI cricket. He has talent and we have to nurture him.

“We have to give him chances. He is a left-handed batsman and plays aggressive cricket. “He said,” I have spoken to him openly about how I want to see him play. I have given him complete freedom. This is our job as well. Ishaan could play only 20 balls by the time India declared the first innings. Rohit said he was very impressed with Ishaan’s wicketkeeping, especially when the ball was turning. He said, “I would like to talk about his wicketkeeping. He kept wickets brilliantly despite playing his first Test. Wicketkeeping in front of Ashwin and Jadeja on a turn-taking pitch was not easy. I am very impressed with him.

The Indian captain said, “He could only score one run because we had to declare the innings. We want the top-order batsmen to bat for a long time. If given a chance, Ishaan is also ready to play long innings. Rohit ruled out major changes in the winning team but said that there is no clarity on the pitch due to bad weather here. India won the first Test by a huge margin in which Yashasvi Jaiswal also made his debut and Shubman Gill came out to bat at the new order.

Rohit said, “We knew about the pitch in Dominica. Talking of rain here, nothing is known. There will be no drastic changes in the team but we will take a decision according to the situation.Praising Jaiswal, who scored 171 runs in the first match, he said, “Indian cricket will see a change today or tomorrow.” I am happy that the new players are doing well. Our job is to make them understand about their role. Now it is their responsibility to prepare and perform well. “He said,” We have faith in them and they are the future of Indian cricket who will take Indian cricket to new heights.
