India finished fifth in the third stage of the Asia Cup Archery, had to be content with six silver and one bronze

Indian archers failed to perform under pressure in all their six final matches against Korea and China in the third stage of the Asia Cup on Saturday, ending their campaign fifth in the medals tally. India failed to win a single gold medal but the team won six silver medals and one bronze medal. Archery ‘powerhouse’ Korea topped the table with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals while China finished second with four gold and three bronze medals.

India lost to Korea in the opening match of the day. The Indian women’s compound team of Sakshi Chowdhary, Pragati and Dipika lost the match 232-234. The Indian team also suffered a 235-238 defeat in the men’s compound event. The recurve women’s team also could not overcome the challenge of Korea in the final. Ridhi Four, Ruma Biswas and Aditi Jaiswal lost 3-5.

India’s men’s recurve team lost to China 1-5 in the final. Parth Salunke was defeated 6-2 by Qi Jiangshuo of China in the men’s recurve match. Indian women’s compound archer Ruma Biswas lost 2-6 to An Qijuan of China Pragati won the bronze medal for India after defeating her teammate Deepshikha 147-146 in the compound women’s individual third place playoff.
