PM will visit Assam on Thursday, will address peace and development rally
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on Thursday and address a “Peace, Harmony and Development” rally at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district. He will also lay the foundation stone for various projects worth more than Rs 500 crore in the education sector. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) gave this information in a statement on Tuesday. According to the PMO, the Prime Minister will also visit the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh and dedicate six other cancer hospitals to the nation besides the newly built Dibrugarh Cancer Hospital there and lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals.

A total of 17 affordable cancer hospitals are being constructed in the state by “Assam Cancer Care Foundation”, a joint venture between the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, the statement said. In the first phase, it has to build 10 such hospitals. Of these, seven have been completed and three are in various stages of construction. Seven new cancer hospitals are to be built in the second phase. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of more than 2950 Amrit Sarovar projects during this period. These lakes will be developed by the state government at a cost of Rs 1150 crore.
