Sri Lanka beat New Zealand in super over in first T20

Sri Lanka beat New Zealand in the Super Over in the first T20 match after tailender Ish Sodhi hit the last ball of the 20th over for a six to take the match into the Super Over. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 196 runs for five wickets. New Zealand needed 13 runs in the last over. Sodhi hit the last ball of Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka for a six to take the match into the tie-breaker. Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham and Mark Chapman came in for New Zealand in the Super Over, while Sri Lanka handed over the bowling to Mahish Teekshana.

Mitchell took a single off the first ball. The second ball was wide and Neesham got out on the third ball. Chapman took two runs, then hit a four and was dismissed on the last ball. Kusal Mendis and Charit Aslanka came out for Sri Lanka and the bowler was Jimmy Neesham. One run was scored on the first ball and Asalanka hit a six on the second ball. He gave Sri Lanka a thrilling victory by hitting a four off the next ball.
