Onkar Salvi appointed Mumbai coach for Ranji Trophy

Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders assistant bowling coach Onkar Salvi was on Monday appointed as the head coach of Mumbai for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Former Mumbai batsman Vineet Indulkar was appointed as the batting coach of the Mumbai senior men’s team, while former wicketkeeper-batsman Onkar Gaurav was made the fielding coach. The appointments were made by the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) headed by former India cricketer Lalchand Rajput.

Sahil Kukreja and Preeti Dimri are the other members in the CIC. Salvi replaced Amol Majumdar in the 41-time Ranji Trophy winning team. Salvi has served as the bowling coach of the Mumbai team before joining KKR. He is the brother of former India player Avishkar Salvi. Along with this, Rajesh Pawar was appointed as the head coach of the Under-23 team while current Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s coach Dinesh Lad was appointed as the head coach of the Under-19 team. Former India women cricketer Sunetra Paranjpe was appointed as the head coach of the Mumbai women’s senior team. Sunetra has represented India in three Tests and 28 ODIs.
