Bundesliga football tournament: Bayern retain top spot in Bundesliga after defeating Bochum
Berlin. Thomas Mueller celebrated a record-tying goal as Bayern Munich beat defending champions Bochum 3-0 to stay top of the Bundesliga football tournament. Müller was making his 428th league appearance for Bayern, one more than club legend Gerd Müller. This is a record number of matches for a club by a player playing in the outfield. Only goalkeepers Oliver Kahn (429) and Sepp Maier (473) have represented the club in more matches. Müller gave Bayern Munich the lead in the 41st minute before Kingsley Coman and Sergei Ganeberry also scored a goal each.

With the win, Bayern maintained a one-point lead in the points table over Union Berlin, who came from behind against Leipzig to win 2–1. Bayern has 43 points in 20 matches while Berlin has 42 points in the same number of matches. In other matches, Borussia Dortmund beat Werder Bremen 2-0 while Hoffenheim lost 1-3 against Bayern Leverkusen. Freiburg beat Stuttgart 2–1 while Mainz beat Augsburg 3–1.
