England’s big win over Pakistan, India will face Australia in the semi-finals
England retained their top spot in Group Two of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with a thumping 114-run win over Pakistan in their last league match here on Tuesday, meaning group second-placed India will face Australia in the semi-finals. Will have to face the challenge of a strong team of England have won eight of their four in Group Two. It will take on the second-placed team from Group I in the semi-finals.
India won three out of four matches and finished second in Group Two with six points. In the semi-finals, they will face Australia on Thursday, who won all their four matches in Group I and finished first with eight points. England won the toss and decided to bat first against Pakistan and scored a huge score of 213 runs for five wickets. This is the first time in the Women’s T20 World Cup when a team crossed the 200-run mark. Pakistan’s team could only manage to score 99 runs for nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Nat Sciver Brunt played a key role in England’s victory. He scored an unbeaten 81 off 40 balls which included 12 fours and a six. Opener Danielle White got England off to a good start scoring 59 off 33 balls. Apart from these two, Amy Jones played an aggressive inning of 47 runs off 31 balls. Pakistan at no point looked in a position to chase the target. Four of his batsmen reached double figures, of which number nine batsman Tuba Hasan scored the highest 28 runs. For England, Catherine Sciver-Brunt and Charlotte Dean took two wickets each.
