Babar Azam does not take advice from senior players, claims Shahid Afridi
Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has claimed that the team’s current captain Babar Azam does not consult senior players on the team’s strategy and criticized batting coach Mohammad Yousuf for not playing an active role in selection matters. England beat Pakistan by 26 runs in the second Test in Multan on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Afridi told a TV channel, “As a captain, I have always believed that the leader should be good and this is possible by keeping all the players together.” This means that you should discuss your strategy with senior players. If you start taking advice from outsiders instead of your senior players, then there is loss.
Batting coach Yousuf spoke to reporters after the match about the inconsistent form of vice-captain and wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan. The former Pakistan batsman said that he has no role in team selection. Afridi said, “I believe Yusuf did not respond well and I think Rizwan needs rest and Pakistan should bring Sarfaraz Ahmed in his place in Test matches.”
