Toronto tournament: Djokovic withdraws from tournament for rest
Toronto. Novak Djokovic has also withdrawn from the National Bank Open tennis tournament for additional rest after losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. Tennis Canada announced on Sunday that Djokovic would miss the tournament due to fatigue. The 36-year-old Djokovic, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, was supposed to start his US Open preparations with the hardcourt tournament. He was defeated by Alcaraz in five sets in the Wimbledon final last Sunday.

Djokovic, who has won the National Bank title four times, said, “I have always liked being in Canada, but after consulting my team, I decided that this is the right decision.” Djokovic has now been replaced by American Christopher Eubanks, who reached the quarter-finals with an unexpected performance at Wimbledon.
