La liga league: Pedri’s goal won Barcelona, six points lead over Real Madrid
Barcelona. Barcelona opened up a six-point lead over their nearest rival Real Madrid in the Spanish Football League La Liga with the help of midfielder Pedri’s goal in a 1-0 win over Girona here on Saturday. Pedri, playing his 100th match for Barcelona, scored a crucial goal in the 61st minute. The win took Barcelona to 47 points from 18 matches, while second-placed Real Madrid have 41 points from 17 matches. Pedri, still only 20 years old, came on as a substitute and scored.

The Spain midfielder has played a key role for the club since Lionel Messi left Barcelona. In other matches, Getafe beat Real Betis 1–0 with a penalty from Borja Iglesias, while Sevilla beat Elchi 3–0 with two goals from Youssef N Nesri. Cadiz defeated Mallorca 2–0 in another match.
