The 29-year-old Rauf, who made his debut in this format during the first Test against England in Rawalpindi, bowled 13 overs on a flat pitch on the first day and proved to be very expensive. Later he got injured while fielding. Rauf did not bowl again in the match after this. England won the first Test by 74 runs on Monday.

 

The Pakistan team now has only three fast bowlers out of which Mohammad Wasim Jr is awaiting his Test debut while Mohammad Ali also made his debut during the first Test. A reliable source has meanwhile said that the team management is preparing to add other players to the team before the second Test starting on December 9 in Multan.

 

The source said that Hasan Ali and Mohammad Abbas are likely to be added to the team as the team also lacks bowlers to bowl in the nets. But the plan is probably to go with three spinners and just two pacers in the second Test as efforts are on to prepare a spin-friendly pitch in Multan.

 

Meanwhile, a source said that PCB chairman Rameez Raja is not happy with the performance of the Pakistan team in the first Test. The source said former Test captain Raja has sent chief selector Mohammad Wasim and head of domestic cricket Nadeem Khan to Multan to work with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf to prepare a result-oriented pitch for the second Test. The second Test will be played in Multan from December 9 while the third Test will be played in Karachi from December 17.
