Wriddhiman Saha told that his focus is only on playing for Gujarat Titans

Kolkata. Ajinkya Rahane’s return to the Indian Test team could be an inspiration for the experienced players, but Wriddhiman Saha on Friday said that he is only focused on doing well for the current Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans. Saha opens the innings for Gujarat Titans along with wicketkeeping and is a vital member of the team.

When Saha was asked whether he was eyeing a comeback in the national team after Rahane was selected in the squad for the World Test Championship, he said, “His (Rahane) name can be considered as he has Well done. But right now my focus is only on doing well for Gujarat Titans. The 38-year-old wicket-keeper batsman played his last Test match for India in December 2021. The team management then informed him that his name would no longer be considered.

Saha had expressed his displeasure in the media after this, which spoiled his relationship with the then Cricket Board of India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly. At the domestic level too, he moved to Tripura after representing Bengal for over 15 years. He is also the mentor of the team along with the player. “Kolkata is my home,” Saha said on the eve of the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. I have played many matches here. Right now I am here representing another team. Motera (Ahmedabad) is my home ground in IPL. It is a different situation for me.
