Wrestlers Protest: Brijbhushan Sharan Singh appeared before the police, told himself innocent, SIT formed

Delhi Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The WFI chief has been accused of sexual harassment and intimidation by wrestlers. The ongoing protest demanding his arrest has entered the 18th day. Brij Bhushan’s statement was recorded on the complaint of the wrestlers and some documents were also demanded to be submitted. Singh, 66, denied the allegations leveled against him. Delhi Police said that on the complaint of the wrestlers, the statement of WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was recorded and some documents were sought. Brij Bhushan denied the allegations leveled against him.

The Delhi Police also informed that the SIT has been constituted with six police teams including four women police officers. A team of ten people was formed under the supervision of a woman DCP. The statement further said that the statement of Assistant Secretary WFI Vinod Tomar was also recorded. Vinod Tomar is also an accused in Delhi Police’s FIR. It is reported that Brij Bhushan Sharan has asked to collect some video evidence and mobile data in his clarification. SIT will interrogate Brij Bhushan further. On the complaint of wrestlers, teams of Delhi Police have gone to Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Haryana to collect evidence on the complaint of wrestlers. Wherever allegations have been made outside the country, Delhi Police is in touch with the concerned agencies.

Earlier, wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh expressed their protest by tying black bands on their arms and heads on Thursday. Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Satyavrat Kadian, Jitendra Kinha and other wrestlers present on the 18th day of the protest at Jantar Mantar wore black armbands on their heads and arms. On this occasion, the supporters of the wrestlers also tied black bands on their arms. These wrestlers have accused Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Bhushan of sexual exploitation of women wrestlers and are demanding his arrest.
