Mandhana is not sure to play in the first match of T20 World Cup against Pakistan

Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is yet to fully recover from the finger injury she sustained during a warm-up match and is not set to play against Pakistan in the T20 Women’s World Cup opener on Sunday. Mandhana suffered the injury while fielding in the warm-up match against Australia. An ICC source said, “He got hurt during the practice match. Can’t say yet whether she is out of the World Cup or will be able to play but won’t be able to play against Pakistan.

Mandhana landed at number three against Australia and could play only three balls. She could not play the second warm-up match against Bangladesh. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also suffered a shoulder injury in the final of the tri-series against South Africa last week. She, however, said after the final that she would be fine with rest. The Indian team has been placed in Group B of the World Cup along with Pakistan, England, West Indies and Ireland.
