Hockey World Cup: India started winning by defeating Spain 2-0, Amit Rohidas and Hardik shine
Hockey World Cup 2023 has got off to a grand start in India. India beat Spain 2-0 in their first match played at Rourkela’s Birsa Munda Stadium. Amit Rohidas and Hardik Singh played important roles in India’s victory. One goal each from both sides. There was a bridge show competition between India and Spain. India has to play its next match against England on 15 January. India led 1-0 in the first quarter. Team India’s performance was excellent in the second quarter as well.
The Indian team was seen playing attacking hockey throughout the match. In the match played in front of more than 20000 spectators at the newly built Birsa Munda Stadium, which is being described as the world’s largest hockey stadium, Amit Rohidas scored the first goal for India on a penalty corner in the 12th minute. Hardik Singh scored the second goal in the 26th minute. Neither team could score after the break. India will next play England at the same ground on January 15 while the last league match will be against Wales on January 19 in Bhubaneswar.
