De Bruyne and Belgium will get a second chance to make an impact at the World Cup

Star Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne knows he and his team didn’t do well in their last match, which they will look to make up for in their World Cup second match against Morocco on Sunday. De Bruyne was voted best player in the last match but he then said, “I don’t know why I’ve been given this trophy.” It may have been done because of my fame.

Belgium beat Canada 1–0 in their first match but their team failed to make an impact at any point. Now Belgium will have to prove against Morocco on Sunday why they are the number two team in the world after Brazil. Belgium is being considered as a strong contender for the title because of its star players. They have some players in their team who are above 30 years and this could be their last World Cup. These include De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Axel Witsel, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

All these players would not like to leave any stone unturned in the upcoming matches. Belgium coach Roberto Martinez, who has termed the performance against Canada as the team’s worst match as coach, is likely to field some new faces against Morocco. These include star striker Romelu Lukaku who could not play in the match against Canada due to injury. Morocco’s goalless draw against 2018 runners-up Croatia in their opening match has been an encouraging start for coach Walid Regargui. The team showed the strength of their defensive line in this match and they will try to repeat the same performance against Belgium.
