Huge first innings lead for India, bad start from West Indies

Yashasvi Jaiswal became the third Indian to score 150 on Test debut while Virat Kohli struck a half-century as India declared at 421 for five on the third day of the first cricket Test against the West Indies on Friday after the hosts took two wickets in their second innings. He became the third Indian batsman after Shikhar Dhawan (187) and Rohit Sharma (177) to score 150 on debut. He lost the wicket to Alzarri Joseph and could not score a double century.

Rahane took an easy catch in the cover off Kemar Roach. After lunch, India lost the wicket of Kohli (76) while Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 37. West Indies’ second innings got off to a bad start and T Chanderpaul was dismissed lbw by Jadeja in the tenth over with eight runs on the board. Captain Braithwaite (seven) was caught by Ravichandran Ashwin at the hands of Rahane. At tea, Jermaine Blackwood was playing for four and Ramon Reifer was scoring seven runs.
