Cricket Tour: New Zealand fast bowler Milne withdraws from India and Pakistan tour

Wellington. New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne has been pulled out of the limited overs tour of India and Pakistan due to lack of adequate preparation. Milne played in the home series against India despite a hamstring strain, but then missed two matches in the Ford Trophy in December. He then played in the first two matches of the Super Smash for the Wellington Firebirds, but playing six ODIs in the 16-day tour of Pakistan and India was deemed too risky. After this, it was decided by mutual consent to replace Milne with fast bowler Blair Tickner, who is currently in Pakistan with the Test team.

New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen said it was not an easy decision to make. He said in a New Zealand Cricket statement, “Adam made us very clear about his concerns. After talking to him, we agreed that his preparations are not good enough to play two back-to-back three-match ODI series. We appreciate their honesty. The players playing in the ODI series will leave for Pakistan on January 4. The series of three ODIs and as many T20 matches against India will begin on January 18.
