Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi is married to Ansha Afridi, daughter of former captain Shahid Afridi. However, Shahid Afridi does not want his son-in-law to call him father-in-law. In a recent interview, Shahid jokingly urged Shaheen not to call him ‘father-in-law’. Actually, both were participating in a TV program. Shahid supported his decision by saying that he had recently won a cricket trophy. Significantly, Afridi had won the Legends League Cricket Trophy. Under his leadership, Asia Lions defeated World Giants by 7 wickets in the final match of the tournament.

 

Shahid told Shaheen during an interview on Sama TV, “Father-in-law, I don’t listen to your mouth.” Shahid said, “So if he has won the trophy (in PSL for Lahore Qalandars), I have also won the trophy in Qatar (Legends League Cricket).” Led by Shaheen, Lahore Qalandars pulled off a stunning last-ball victory over Multan Sultans to claim their second successive Pakistan Super League (PSL) title in March. It saw Shaheen become the first captain to win back-to-back PSL titles and celebrations followed when Khushdil Shah was run out on the last ball of the match.

 

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi criticized the performance of national team pacer Shaheen Afridi, while also offering advice to all-rounder Shadab Khan. After the final T20 match against New Zealand at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Afridi said about Shaheen that consistency in line and length is the key to win matches. He said that while Shaheen started strong, he faltered bowling in the wrong areas when it mattered the most. Also talked about Shadab’s struggle against left-handed batsmen. He emphasized that the young all-rounder should prioritize his bowling skills over his batting. He clearly said that he should try to improve his bowling to retain his place in the team.
