After the defeat in WTC Final, danger bells for these three players, it may be difficult to return to Team India

Team India’s wait to win their first ICC trophy since the 2013 Champions Trophy is getting longer. After reaching the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), there was hope from Team India, but in the final, the team had to face defeat by Australia by 209 runs. With this, once again India’s dream of ICC trophy was shattered. Team India also reached the last WTC final. That time too they lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in a low-scoring and rain-affected match. This is the reason why the team is facing criticism.

Clouds of crisis on these players

After the WTC final, many players may be released from Team India. Let’s tell about them.

1. Cheteshwar Pujara

Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s long-time number three player, is facing a lot of criticism. His performance in the final was not good even though he had been playing county cricket in England for a long time. His poor performance has continued for a long time. He was also dropped after the tour of South Africa last year. However, impressive performances in county cricket saw the selectors recall him for the one-off Test in England. But the way he got out in both the innings in the WTC final didn’t make many happy. That’s why now the path of Team India can be difficult for them.

2. KS Bharath

KS Bharat got a chance in Team India after Rishabh Pant was injured. Bharat had a great chance to create history with his performance in the WTC final. Bharat also played in the Border Gavaskar Trophy before the Indian Premier League (IPL). But his batting was far from satisfactory, even though his wicketkeeping was top notch. Bharat has so far scored only 129 runs in 8 innings in Tests at an average of just 18.4 which is not enough and may lead the selectors to look ahead to him in Tests.

3. Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav played the 57th Test of his career in the WTC final and his performance was not good at all. He eased the pressure with the new ball on the first day and did not bowl as expected throughout the game. Even though he picked up two wickets in the second innings, it was too late for India. Umesh’s performances have been volatile especially in Tests away from home and this could eventually cost him his place in the team for the tour of the West Indies.
