AIFF will not organize tournaments in the summer of April and May in future

The Super Cup and the Indian Women’s League were scheduled to be held in April-May this year but the All India Football Federation on Wednesday said it will not hold tournaments in these two summer months from now on. The Super Cup matches between I-League and Indian Super League clubs were played in Kerala from April 3 to 25 while the IWL will be played in Ahmedabad from April 26 to May 19. AIFF President Kalyan Choubey said here on the sidelines of the draw of the SAFF Cup to be held in Bengaluru next month, “The football season will end with the IWL this month. Now we will try not to play football tournaments in April-May in view of this weather.

He said, “We do not want our players to suffer in this scorching heat.” 23 The session stretched till May. Choubey said, “We are arranging more and more international matches for the national team. The three-nation tournament in Manipur in March will be followed by the Intercontinental Cup in Bhubaneswar and now the SAFF Cup in Bengaluru from June 21 to July 4. “After that we hope to play in the Merdeka Cup and King’s Cup. That means the national team will get 10 to 12 more matches.
