Bajrang defends taking facilities in a four-star hotel near the protest site
Bajrang Punia on Wednesday defended his use of facilities at an expensive hotel near Jantar Mantar, saying the women involved in the protest needed privacy to meet their basic needs. Pictures of Bajrang and his wife Sangeeta Phogat having dinner at the hotel’s restaurant have gone viral on social media. Bajrang said, “It is also being spread that no one is staying at Jantar Mantar but a lot of media people are here even at night. We have women with us and they need privacy to change clothes, take bath. They can’t do it on the road.
He said, “They also need a washroom. There is no water in the washroom at Jantar Mantar. That’s why we have taken the rooms. Sitting on dharna does not mean that we will bathe on the road.” Sakshi said that the Delhi Police is giving wrong information that the wrestlers have left the protest site. He said, “Some people are saying that we do not stay here at night. But anyone can come and see. The media is always here.” Vinesh said, “Some children from an NGO had come to meet us in the morning but the police said that we do not stay here and come in the afternoon and leave at night. Then someone told them that the police were lying.
