Barcelona beat Sevilla to eight points in La Liga over Madrid
Barcelona continued their winning streak in the second leg of the La Liga (Spain’s top domestic football league) season to open up a huge eight-point lead at the top of the table following a defeat by Real Madrid. Mallorca pulled off a 1-0 upset win over second-placed Madrid, while Barcelona thrashed Sevilla 3-0 in a one-sided encounter. This is Barcelona’s 10th consecutive win in competitive matches. After this win, Barcelona have 53 points from 20 matches while Real Madrid have 45 points from the same number of matches.
A total of 38 matches are to be played in the season. Barcelona scored all three goals in the second half of the match. Jordi Alba (58th minute), Xavi (70th minute) and Rafinha (79th minute) scored for the team. Against Mallorca, Real Madrid had to pay the price for an own goal by Nacho (13th minute). In other matches, Valladolid beat Real Sociedad 1-0. Girona beat Valencia by the same margin.
