Brij Bhushan said, picketing at Jantar Mantar is politically motivated

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh termed the protest by top wrestlers at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against him as politically motivated. Top wrestlers of the country once again started a dharna at Jantar Mantar from 23rd April, demanding the arrest of WFI chief Brij Bhushan. He has accused Brij Bhushan of threatening and sexually harassing women wrestlers. Earlier, he had staged a sit-in in January. Brij Bhushan also praised Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and his party’s stand and said that SP is standing with the truth by not joining the dharna.

Other opposition parties including Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have extended support to the wrestlers and leaders of these parties met the wrestlers at the protest site. However, the Samajwadi Party has distanced itself from the dharna. Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan told PTI, “I want to thank Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav (for not taking the side of the protesting wrestlers). I have known him since childhood. I am older than him, we have political differences but Akhilesh knows the truth and if there are 10,000 wrestlers in Uttar Pradesh, eight thousand of them are from the Yadav community and from the Samajwadi family and hence they know the truth.

He alleged, “The wrestlers who are protesting have become toys of the Congress and other opposition parties. Their motive is not my resignation, but it is only political. Brij Bhushan said that he has not yet received the copy of the FIR. Raising the question, he said, “It is their right to protest, but can a sportsperson associated with the Railways sit on a dharna like this?” Where objectionable slogans are being raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Is. We have an audio of this which will be handed over to the Delhi Police when the time comes.

On the involvement of political people in the wrestlers’ movement, the WFI president said, “This fight has now gone out of the hands of the players. Political parties have entered in this. I could see its symptoms from day one. The players sitting on strike are speaking, it is not their own voice. This voice has been created and taught.” Making a sensational allegation against Bajrang Punia, Brij Bhushan said, “He (Bajrang) searched for the accused minor girl for four months. An audio related to this is also going viral in which the matter of conspiracy is clearly coming to the fore. These allegations are leveled against me as the President of the Wrestling Federation of India, not as a BJP MP.

I have to prove myself innocent and get out of this allegation. Even if there is punishment, it will be for me only, not for the BJP. So don’t take this fight on the BJP. He said that if the party asks him to resign, he will do so immediately. On the question of Priyanka Gandhi joining the wrestlers’ strike, Brij Bhushan said, “Priyanka Gandhi does not know the facts. Dipendra Hooda, who is the storyteller of this story from the beginning, brought him by seduction. The day Priyanka comes to know the truth, the report of the investigation will come, she will realize that I should not have gone. “He said,” Priyanka Gandhi is in a misunderstanding. I openly challenge them to enter the fray in front of me from Kaiserganj, Gonda, Shravasti or any Lok Sabha seat in the vicinity. All misunderstandings will be cleared.

Brij Bhushan also targeted Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal. The BJP MP made serious allegations without naming an industrialist. He said, “A big industrialist is responsible for the conspiracy against me.” When asked to name, he said, “If you take my name, you will be killed.” He is a man of thousands of crores, he will get me killed.” When asked about the police investigation, the MP said, “The Delhi Police has not contacted me yet. I am ready to go wherever the police calls me.

Significantly, the Delhi Police on Friday registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan on the allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation leveled by seven female wrestlers. The first FIR pertains to allegations made by a minor under which a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
