Bronze in Tokyo Olympics changed the face of Indian hockey: Amit Rohidas
Indian team defender Amit Rohidas believes that the historic bronze medal won at the Tokyo Olympics has changed the face of Indian hockey and inspired the youth to take up the sport. Rohidas said that the children of the village are eagerly waiting for the FIH World Cup which will be played in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29. “The Tokyo Olympics bronze medal changed a lot,” Rohidas said in Hockey India’s podcast ‘Hockey Te Charcha’.

Earlier, the youth who did not play hockey in the villages are also playing now. The number of youngsters playing hockey is increasing in every school.” Rohidas, who hails from Odisha, said that playing the World Cup at home is an emotional moment for any player. He said, “Playing on your own ground is a different feeling. The audience supports and inspires a lot. Audiences come to Odisha with a different kind of energy which gives us extra inspiration.
