Coco Gauff wins ASB Classic title

Top seed Coco Gauff of America started the new season on a bright note, winning the ASB Classic tennis tournament title by defeating Spanish qualifier Victoria Massarova in the women’s singles final here on Sunday. Gauff defeated Masarova in straight sets 6–1, 6–1 to win her third WTA title and her first on hard courts. With this win, Gauff’s morale will increase before the first Grand Slam Australian Open of the year. During the final also there was a long break due to rain.

Throughout the tournament in Auckland, several matches saw long breaks due to rain while several matches were forced to be played on indoor courts. Gauff did not drop a set throughout the tournament, despite facing strong challenges from players such as former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin and seventh seed Danka Kovinic. “It’s been a great week for me despite the rain,” Gough said. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season. “It’s my first title on hard courts since I was 15, so it’s nice to finally put in an impressive performance on that surface,” she added. which I like.
