Religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested by Chhattisgarh Police from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday evening. #ReleaseKalicharanMaharaj is trending in social media too. Since then, a situation of conflict has arisen between the two states. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the manner in which the Chhattisgarh Police has arrested Kalicharan Maharaj is against the federal dignity. He has also directed the Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh to speak to the Director General of Police of Chhattisgarh and seek clarification by protesting on the manner of arrest.

CM Bhupesh Baghel took a jibe

#ReleaseKalicharanMaharaj : On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken a jibe at Mishra’s statement. He said that BJP leaders should tell whether they are happy or sad on the arrest of the religious leader. On a question asked by Chhattisgarh Police on the arrest of Kalicharan Maharaj in Madhya Pradesh, Mishra told the media in Bhopal. We have objection to the way of Chhattisgarh Police. The Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh government should not have violated the inter-state protocol. He said that federal limits do not allow this at all.

Indecent remarks were made on Mahatma Gandhi

#ReleaseKalicharanMaharaj : Let us tell you that on the last day of the Parliament of Religions on Sunday evening, Kalicharan allegedly used abusive words for Mahatma Gandhi. He told the people that a fanatical Hindu leader should be elected as the head of the government to protect the religion. The leaders of the ruling party Congress in Chhattisgarh had expressed displeasure over this remark. The issue was also raised in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, where the Shiv Sena-led government had assured action against Kalicharan.
