Emerging Asia Cup: India A will enter as title contenders against Pakistan A

An impressive performance so far, India A will start as title favorites against arch-rivals Pakistan A in the final of the Emerging Asia Cup cricket tournament here on Sunday. In matches between India and Pakistan, it is difficult to call anyone a strong contender for victory, but looking at the form of the Indian team, it is being considered as a contender for victory in this match. The Indian team will go into this match with high morale also because they defeated Pakistan in the league stage. The Indian players, however, will have to guard against overconfidence which at one stage in the semi-final against Bangladesh found the team in trouble.

In this match played at R Premadasa Stadium against Bangladesh, the Indian team was dismissed for 211 runs. Bangladesh openers got the team off to a good start and by the 18th over their score was 94 for one. After this, Indian spinners Nishant Sindhu and Manav Sutar bowled brilliantly to dismiss Bangladesh for 160 runs. Captain Yash Dhull’s crucial innings of 66 runs and brilliant fielding also contributed to India’s victory. Most of India’s players have contributed so far and they will leave no stone unturned to continue their good form against Pakistan.

However, the Indian team should not underestimate Pakistan in any way as their team has many players who have experience of playing international matches and Pakistan Super League. All-rounder Mohammad Wasim, captain Mohammad Haris, opener Sahibzada Farhan and fast bowler Arshad Iqbal have experience of playing international cricket while Amad Butt and Omar Yousuf have proved their mettle in the Pakistan Super League.
