Indian women’s hockey team’s middle rower Neha Goel believes that the upcoming FIH (International Hockey Federation) Women’s Nations Cup will give her a good chance to hone her skills during the match. The Nations Cup will be held in Valencia, Spain from 11 to 17 December. Neha said in a release from Hockey India, “The FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup 2022 will give us an opportunity to play with some good teams. This will give us an opportunity to spend competitive time on the field.

 We have been consistently doing well against the big teams in recent years and in Spain we aim to do even better. The Indian team, which finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics and then won a bronze medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, continues to perform consistently at the international level. In the Nations Cup, the Indian team is in Pool B along with Canada, Japan and South Africa. Pool A has teams from Ireland, hosts Spain, Italy and South Korea. Neha said, “We cannot take any team lightly. Every team is very dangerous in one way or the other.

We have to play our best hockey so that the team can reach the final round. Every match is a new day and past results will have no bearing on the present.” India will start their campaign against Canada. The team will then face the challenge of Japan and then South Africa.
