Ghosh in ‘Most Valuable Team’ of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

India’s wicket-keeper batsman Richa Ghosh has earned a place in the ICC’s ‘Most Valuable Team of the Tournament’, released on Monday, for her impressive performance during her team’s semi-final run in the Women’s T20 World Cup here. The 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Richa failed against Ireland in the group stage and Australia in the semi-finals but scored 136 not out against Pakistan (31 not out), West Indies (44 not out) and England (47 not out) in the tournament.

Taking forward the record, four players of the Australian team that won the sixth world title have got a place in this XI. These players are wicket-keeper batsman Alyssa Healy (189 runs at 47.25, four wickets), all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner (110 runs and 10 wickets), Darcy Brown (seven wickets) and Megan Schutt (10 wickets). The team was selected by a panel of experts, including commentator and former West Indies player Ian Bishop and former Australian women’s cricketer Melanie Jones, among others.
