Grand Chess Tour: Average performance of Anand, Gukesh won both the matches

Zagreb. Indian ace Viswanathan Anand won one game, drew one and lost one on the second day of the Super United Rapid and Blitz Chess tournament. Anand beat Ivan Saric in the fourth round but then drew with Fabiano Caruana and lost to world number one Magnus Carlsen. Anand’s compatriot Grandmaster D Gukesh moved up to joint second spot after two wins and a draw.

Gukesh played out a draw with Richard Rapport after defeating Constantin Lupulescu and Sarich. After the second day, Anand is on eight points along with Ian Nepomniachtchi and Caruana. In second place are Gukesh and Jan-Christoph Duda with seven points each. Carlsen suffered defeats against Caruana and Firoza on the second day but beat Anand.
