Hockey India distributes equipment worth over Rs 8 crore to states, units and academies

New Delhi. Hockey India has distributed over 11,000 hockey sticks, 3,300 balls and protective equipment worth Rs 8 crore to state federations, member units and academies across the country in an exercise to promote the game at the grassroots level. The initiative is part of the ‘Hockey India Ka Abhiman Har Ghar Ho Hockey Ki Pehchaan’ program which not only aims to develop the game at the grassroots level but also motivate children from underprivileged sections to take up the sport. All state associations, member units besides academies like Roundglass Punjab Hockey Club, Dhyanchand Hockey Academy, Republican Sports Club, Naval Tata Hockey Academy Jamshedpur, Him Academy and Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy have benefited under this programme.

The state and member units distributed the goods in their respective districts. Talking about the initiative, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “This campaign is in line with our vision of building a strong foundation for the development of hockey in India.” By providing hockey sticks, balls and sports safety equipment, we aim to create an environment that will enable them to thrive and reach their full potential.
