Hockey World Cup 2023: Know which team has won the World Cup the maximum number of times, India’s performance is like this
India is all set to host the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. A total of 16 teams of the world are participating in the 15th edition of the Hockey World Cup starting from 13 January. An 18-member Indian team, which will be captained by drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh, will take part in this World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in Odisha. This is the first time in the history of 51 years that two cities will host the World Cup together.
This is how the groups are made for the World Cup
A total of 16 teams will participate for the Hockey World Cup. These teams are divided into four groups. India is included in Group D.
Pool A – Argentina, Australia, South Africa, France
Pool B – Belgium, Germany, Japan, Korea
Pool C – Chile, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand
Pool D – England, Spain, India, Wales

India’s performance has been like this
The Indian hockey team has not been able to win the Hockey World Cup for the last 48 years. The last time India lifted the Hockey World Cup trophy was in the year 1975 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. India captured the trophy by defeating defending champions Pakistan. However, there are lot of expectations from this Indian hockey team. Before the Hockey World Cup, the Indian team was successful in winning the silver medal in the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. At the same time, the Indian team won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022. In such a situation, the whole country is expecting a great performance from the Indian hockey team in this World Cup. Let us tell you that till now the World Cup has been organized 14 times but India has been able to win the trophy only once.

While talking about the history of Hockey World Cup, it started in 1971. Pakistan has been the most successful team in the Men’s Hockey World Cup. Pakistan has won the World Cup four times so far. Apart from this, the team of Netherlands and Australia has become the winner of the Hockey World Cup three times each. Apart from this, Germany, India and Belgium have won the title twice. The Belgian team will participate in the World Cup 2023 as the defending champions.
