A three ODI series is to be played between India and Sri Lanka. The first match will be played in Guwahati on 10 January. However, before this India has suffered a major setback. In fact, Jasprit Bumrah, who is returning to Team India after injury, has been ruled out of the ODI series. Bumrah was recently made a part of the series. But a few days later he was dropped from the team. In fact, when Team India was announced for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Jasprit Bumrah’s name was not there. Later Jasprit Bumrah was included in Team India. But once again they have been removed.

Actually, Team India has reached Guwahati for the first ODI. But Jasprit Bumrah did not reach together. He was included in the squad on 3 January. It was claimed at that time that Jasprit Bumrah is now fully fit and ready to play. Although sources have told that BCCI does not want to take any risk regarding Jasprit Bumrah at the moment. The biggest reason for this is that India has to play ODI World Cup match this year. This match will be held in India only, in such a situation, Jasprit Bumrah can prove to be very important for Team India. This is the reason why the BCCI does not want any hurry regarding Jasprit Bumrah and wants to give him full time to return.

The big blow for Team India is also that Rishabh Pant is injured. Doubts remain on his chances of playing in the World Cup. Let us tell you that Jasprit Bumrah is away from cricket since September 2022. He was initially included in the squad for the T20 World Cup but was later ruled out due to injury. A BCCI source said that Bumrah has not gone to Guwahati with the team. He still needs some time to regain full fitness as he will be required during the Test series against Australia. For now, it remains to be seen whether Bumrah recovers for the ODI series against New Zealand starting January 18 and whether he will get a chance to play international cricket without playing a single home match.
